Digital euro moves closer: EU Parliament gives green light
The European Parliament approved by large majority on July 9, 2026 the initiation of negotiations on the creation of a digital euro. With 416 votes in favor, 169 against and 22 abstentions, the mandate for negotiations was approved. The project thus moves into the next phase of the legislative process.
