DNA study: Neanderthals were more closely related than thought
A genetic analysis of bone fragments from Denisova Cave in Siberia shows that two Neanderthals who lived approximately 10,000 years apart were distant relatives. The approximately 110,000-year-old bone discovery provides new insights into the social structure of these ancient people and suggests that Neanderthals lived in small, interconnected groups.
