Drug Gang Dismantled – 21 Arrests and Seizure of Poppy Plants
Cyprus's drug enforcement authority (YKAN) dismantled a drug network involved in the import and distribution of large quantities of dried poppy pods (Papaver somniferum). Between June 19 and the end of the operation, the authority arrested 21 people, seized approximately 60 kilograms of poppy material, and resolved a total of 17 related cases across the island. Two additional suspects are still being sought.
