ECB expects inflation of just under 3% by end of 2026 – energy and interest rates in focus
The European Central Bank expects inflation in the eurozone to remain at just under 3% by the end of 2026, significantly above the ECB's 2% target. ECB chief economist Philip Lane points out that the war in Iran and tensions in the Middle East are keeping energy costs elevated.
