ECB Study: Energy Price Shock Slowed Bank Credit
A study by the European Central Bank shows that the increase in energy prices following Russia's invasion of Ukraine significantly reduced bank credit extension to energy-intensive companies. Firms with higher energy cost burdens borrowed less, while banks simultaneously imposed stricter credit conditions. The working paper was written by Niels Framroze Moller and Johannes Poeschl.
