ECDC warns of mosquito virus transmission through blood donations
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has documented 77 possible or confirmed cases of arbovirus transmission through blood, blood products, or breast milk in Europe. While these viruses are normally transmitted by mosquitoes or ticks, they can in rare cases be transmitted through other routes. The authority warns of the risks to blood donations.
