ECDC warns of mosquitoes in Europe: Cyprus lagging behind
Between 2020-2025, Cyprus was the only one of nine EU countries without systematic surveillance of Culex mosquitoes, which transmit West Nile virus, despite stating it intended to develop this capacity. Cyprus is also lagging behind with invasive Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit dengue and chikungunya.
