ECHR condemns Cyprus for 13-month detention of asylum seeker
The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that Cyprus violated the freedom rights of a Moroccan asylum seeker by holding him in deportation detention for 13.5 months based on security concerns. The court found that the detention was not sufficiently linked to preventing illegal entry and lasted longer than necessary.
