ECHR: Cyprus violates human rights in asylum detainee custody
The European Court of Human Rights has condemned Cyprus for authorities detaining a Moroccan asylum seeker for 13.5 months on national security grounds. The Strasbourg court found that the detention was not sufficiently linked to preventing illegal entry and lasted longer than necessary.
