ECJ Refers Cyprus for Natura 2000 Failures
The European Commission has taken Cyprus to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for years of inaction in setting clear protection objectives and issuing required conservation measure regulations for Natura 2000 sites. This leads to significant risks of substantial fines and daily penalties as well as blocking of approvals for projects in these protected areas.
