Emergency excavations 1974: makeshift burials at Athalassa Hospital
Hours of bombardment of Athalassa Hospital in Nicosia in July 1974 left a crater where the dead were buried in makeshift fashion. A research team began excavations at the site in 2017 to find missing persons. Archaeologist Michalis Iacovides describes the conditions at that time without formal burial protocols.
