Energy costs drive inflation in the eurozone
According to a study by the European Central Bank (ECB), the recent rise in inflation in the eurozone is mainly caused by energy supply shocks, not by strong consumer demand. ECB analysts Niccolò Battistini and Giovanni Trebbi investigated whether companies attribute rising prices to demand pressure or supply bottlenecks. The results suggest that supply chain disruptions are the main driver of price increases.
