EU Lawmaker Calls for Halt to Turkish-Cypriot Farmer Subsidies
Cypriot EU Member Costas Mavrides (DIKO) is calling for an end to EU financing for the Turkish-Cypriot agricultural sector due to suspicions that Turkish-Cypriot farmers and authorities are not complying with EU regulations during the current foot-and-mouth disease outbreak. He accuses them of ignoring EU rules in animal health disease control.
