EU livestock populations declined significantly in 2025
The European Union recorded a massive decline in livestock populations across all monitored categories in 2025. Statistics show 131.5 million pigs, 71.6 million cattle, 55.3 million sheep and 10.2 million goats, with all categories showing declines compared to the previous year.
