EU plans regulations for second homes to combat housing crisis
The European Commission has presented a proposal for a new 'Affordable Housing Act' that could allow cities and national governments to restrict the purchase and use of second homes in tight housing markets. The proposal forgoes an EU-wide ban on second homes but gives local authorities greater scope for action. This is the first common European regulatory framework to combat the housing crisis.
