EU recognition of rapes by Turkish army in 1974
52 years after the Turkish invasion, initiatives have led to a European Parliament resolution recognizing the crime and condemning rapes committed by the Turkish army in 1974. Girls and women aged 12 to 71 were victims of mass and repeated rapes, including a 12-year-old child. The survivors continue to live with the consequences of these war crimes.
