EU Rejects Payments for Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Occupied Areas
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen clarified in her response to a letter from Cypriot Member of the European Parliament Michalis Chatzipadielas that no compensation from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) has been or will be made to livestock farmers in occupied areas. Despite acknowledging the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus, the EU is not prepared to make corresponding payments.
