EU Rules on Long-lasting Chemicals and Single-use Plastics Impact Cyprus
Following the handover of the EU Council presidency in June 2026, one of Cyprus's most important environmental legacies continues: In February, the Council, under Cypriot presidency, signed a long-blocked directive that for the first time regulates an entire group of so-called "forever chemicals" and single-use plastics. These rules have direct impact on Cyprus and its waste management system.
