EU tests mutual defense clause with Cyprus in focus
The EU is conducting a major simulation exercise this week in Brussels to test how member states would respond to an armed attack on one of its members. Cyprus plays a direct role in one of three scenarios examined. The exercise concentrates on Article 42.7 of the EU Treaty, which regulates the mutual defense obligation.
