EU Vice President becomes mediator in Cyprus conflict
A Vice President of the European Commission is appointed as special envoy for the Cyprus question. The appointment was announced by Ursula von der Leyen and takes effect today. This represents an upgrade of European engagement following a previous agreement between Nicosia and Brussels on such a development.
