European Power Grid Rejects Turkish Cypriot Plans
The European network of transmission system operators (Entso-E) rejected proposals to include a power cable between Cyprus and Turkey in its ten-year development plan. Instead, the network prefers the Eastern Mediterranean Connection project, which would link the power grids of Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey. The decision could have implications for Cyprus's energy independence.
