Eviction Notices for Refugees on August 15
The Larnaka District Administration issued eviction notices on August 15, the Assumption of Mary holiday, to refugees housed in temporary shelters in the village of Mari. The action caused discontent among many affected residents, particularly as some of them were displaced by Turkish occupation on this very date in 1974. Mari's Mayor Maria Georgiou criticized the action.
