Exceptional August rainfall brings abundant water
August rainfall brought enormous amounts of water, in some cases up to 22 times the normal seasonal average. In Makedonitissa in the capital, 62 mm of rain fell in a single day. Meteorology director Filippos Tymvios emphasized that the precipitation was geographically very limited.
