Ferry Disaster off Kyrenia: At Least 7 Dead, 23 Missing
A passenger boat named Express (catamaran) with 267 people on board capsized off the coast of Kyrenia on Sunday. According to current reports, at least seven people have died and 23 others are missing. The ship was operated by Filo Jet/Filo Denizcilik and sent a distress call at 12:10 p.m. due to water ingress. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Larnaca offered to support the search and rescue operation. The Cypriot government stated that the protection of human life is the highest priority.
