Fewer asylum approvals across EU – Cyprus with 8,575 decisions
The European Union approved a total of 361,325 asylum applications in 2025, representing an 18 percent decline compared to 2024. In Cyprus, 8,575 first-instance asylum decisions were made in the same period, with Syrian applicants forming the largest group of asylum seekers.
