Fire in Kalo Chorio: Fire Brought Under Control, Government Responsibility Disputed
The fire near the Kalo Chorio shooting range was brought completely under control according to the Coordination Center. The evacuation of Agia Anna had been necessary. Agia Anna Mayor Anastasis Georgiou accused President Christodoulides and Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas of acting irresponsibly by conducting shooting exercises during this season and in extreme heat. Minister Palmas rejected the criticism and blamed the 70th Pioneer Regiment.
