Fire Series in Cyprus – Arson Suspicion Leads to Increased Patrols
Following five fires in the past 24 hours in Cyprus, the Fire Service has increased its patrols for fire suppression, according to spokesman Andreas Kettis. A fire in the Prasteio-Kellakiou area of the Limassol district early Monday morning apparently started when someone threw glowing coals into a plastic trash bin, explained forestry service spokesman Glafkos Kyriakou. Approximately 50 rescue personnel from the fire service, forestry service, and volunteer groups fought the fire on site.
