Firefighting helicopter crashes during wildfire suppression
A Sikorsky S-64 firefighting helicopter with two occupants crashed in Utah during firefighting operations for a major wildfire. The fire was triggered by a lightning strike on July 27 and had already destroyed approximately 425,000 hectares. The response forces—632 personnel and seven helicopters—were attempting to combat the fire before the crash occurred.
