Foot-and-Mouth Disease: 17.5 Million Euro Compensation
Three months after the last outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, the Director General of the Agricultural Department, Andreas Gregoriou, reported to the parliamentary agriculture committee on the crisis balance sheet. The last case was registered on June 9, 2026 in Mamari. In total, 121 livestock herds were infected and compensation amounts to 17.5 million euros, while a plan for livestock recovery is being discussed.
