Foot-and-mouth disease: 33,000 piglets must be destroyed
The pig production sector is forced to kill tens of thousands of healthy piglets as a result of strict measures to combat foot-and-mouth disease. The cabinet approved a special support package for the pig sector that provides financial compensation for the animal culling. This is an attempt to mitigate the economic damage for the affected producers.
