Foot-and-mouth disease could last 4-5 years
Petros Kailas, chairman of the Cyprus Pig Breeders Association, warns that it will take a long time for Cyprus to completely eliminate foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). The last vaccinated animal could live another 4-5 years before it must be slaughtered, which burdens the long-term fight against the disease.
