Foot-and-mouth disease instrumentalized as political leverage
In a commentary, it is argued that Turkish occupation forces use foot-and-mouth disease as an instrument to enforce accomplished facts. While controls proceed normally at British bases and milk reaches the market under supervision of the Republic of Cyprus, different standards are applied in the occupied territory. The article criticizes the instrumentalization of animal diseases and public health for political purposes.
