Foot-and-mouth disease spreads to 104 farms
Foot-and-mouth disease has spread alarmingly in Cyprus, now affecting 104 farms in Nicosia and Larnaca. According to the director general of the Ministry of Agriculture, approximately 37,000 sheep and goats have already been culled, while 21,000 pigs are in culling processes. Parliamentarians accuse authorities of inaction in controls and suspect illegal animal transport from occupied territories as the cause of the spread.
