Foot-and-mouth disease threatens Halloumi production
The foot-and-mouth disease in the southern part of Cyprus has led to a drastic decline in small livestock populations. This threatens the required 51 percent milk quota for protected Halloumi cheese. Producers suggest lowering this quota to 20 percent to secure production.
