Forest Fires in Crete – Evacuations Underway
A major wildfire in Melidochori near Heraklion in Crete has triggered evacuations under difficult conditions. The main fire burned in low vegetation below a settlement. At 13:45 the emergency system 112 issued an information message, followed at 15:55 by a precautionary evacuation message for the Melidochori area.
