Former Cypriot Politicians Lose Police Protection Under New Rules
Under new regulations coming into force this month, wives of former presidents such as Elsi Christofias and Androulla Vassiliou will lose their police protection. Former parliamentary speakers Demetris Syllouris and Yiannakis Omirou will also receive reduced security details. The cabinet decision on individual protective measures is being replaced by a new system.
