Fossil discoveries in China: Origins of animals older than thought
A newly discovered fossil site in southwestern China shows that many major animal groups originated significantly earlier than previously assumed - before the beginning of the Cambrian period. The research findings suggest that complex life on Earth developed earlier than previous scientific understanding would have suggested.
