Franklin Expedition: DNA identifies historical skeletons
Researchers have identified three additional skeletons of sailors who died in the Arctic during Sir John Franklin's failed Northwest Passage expedition of 1845 through DNA analysis. The study, led by Douglas R. Stenton of the University of Waterloo, was published in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports. The remains were found in Erebus Bay and now give names back to the deceased sailors.
