Gap in Foreign Treatment: Patients Struggle to Obtain Follow-up Appointment Authorization
Patients who have already received treatment abroad face difficulties obtaining renewed authorization from the Health Insurance Organization (HIO) for necessary follow-up examinations. The problem arises because no NHS doctor in Cyprus is willing to submit the new application for follow-up treatment. Parliamentarians and patient advocates have raised this healthcare system gap.
