Gender-Based Violence: 18,000 Reports in Six Years
Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis revealed in an emergency session of the parliamentary human rights committee that the scale of gender-based violence in Cyprus is significantly larger than previously assumed. Between 2021 and 2026, approximately 18,000 complaints of gender-based violence were registered. The emergency session followed an attempted femicide in Limassol a week earlier.
