GESY Primary Care Model Overwhelmed with 2,500 Patients Per Doctor
Cyprus's GESY healthcare system is structurally under-equipped: 170 general practitioners care for a total of 425,000 patients, averaging 2,500 patients per doctor. Under these conditions, a single doctor cannot provide adequate primary care and cannot sufficiently document and monitor his patients' medical histories.
