According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), global air passenger demand in August 2026 declined by 0.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, with a sharp decline in the Middle East weighing on overall traffic. However, without Middle Eastern airlines, demand would have increased by 0.6 percent.
