Greece Battles Wave of Wildfires With 60 Fires in One Day
Greece recorded over 60 forest fires in a single day, with Central Macedonia being particularly hard hit. In the region northeast of Thessaloniki, 15 to 16 fires broke out almost simultaneously and forced evacuations in several suburbs of the city. The fire service had to strain its resources significantly to combat the numerous fires simultaneously.
