Halloumi crisis: Goat milk shortage and rescue plan
Foot-and-mouth disease has revealed structural weaknesses in Cypriot livestock farming. The protected Halloumi PDO product must be made from at least 50 percent goat milk over the next three years, which struggles with supply problems and illegal imports from occupied territories. A 610 million euro rescue plan was presented.
