Heaviest drug sentence: 22 and 20 years imprisonment for smugglers
The Limassol Criminal Court imposed sentences of 22 and 20 years imprisonment against two defendants for importing and distributing 95 kilograms of drugs. The narcotics were hidden in inflatable toys last September, which were transported to Cyprus by shipping container. The decision is considered groundbreaking for one of the most serious drug cases in Cypriot courts.
