Historic Day: Japanese Surrender Ended World War II in 1945
A compilation of historic events from September 2 includes the signing of the unconditional Japanese surrender in 1945 aboard the battleship Missouri, which ended World War II. French painter Henri Rousseau also died on this day in 1910, and French aviators Dieudonne Coste and Maurice Bellonte completed the first direct flight from Europe to the USA in 1930.
