Iceland Bans Commercial Whaling Permanently
The Icelandic government announced it will submit legislation in February that prohibits commercial whaling. After passage, only Norway and Japan would internationally practice commercial whaling. The ban follows years of criticism from animal rights activists and celebrities against Iceland's whaling practices.
