Illegal animal transport contributes to spread of foot-and-mouth disease
Cyprus' director of veterinary services, Christodoulos Pipis, confirmed that the spread of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) on the island is partly linked to the illegal transport of animals between farms in the Nicosia and Larnaca districts. Contact tracing of confirmed cases revealed this connection.
