Iran accuses USA and Israel of destroying cultural heritage
The Iranian embassy in Cyprus accuses the USA and Israel of heavily damaging important Iranian cultural sites such as the Golestan Palace and Arg Square through air strikes on Tehran in winter 2026. Iran views this as a violation of international humanitarian law. UNESCO has accordingly issued new warnings to protect cultural heritage.
