Israel officially recognizes Armenian genocide
The Israeli cabinet approved on Sunday the proposal by Foreign Minister Gideon Saar for official recognition of the Armenian genocide. The genocide was committed during the final years of the Ottoman Empire by the government of the Committee of Union and Progress, the dominant faction of the Young Turks. This decision has significant geopolitical implications in the region.
